What is tallow and why is PrimalPantry built around it?

Tallow is rendered grass-fed beef fat โ€” and its fatty-acid profile is remarkably close to your skin's own natural oils. What's actually in the balm?

The base is grass-fed New Zealand tallow. Depending on the formula, we add small amounts of cold-pressed natural oils, Manuka honey, vanilla, or actives like bakuchiol (in Reviana). The full ingredient list is on every product page.

What you won't find in any PrimalPantry product: synthetic fragrance, parabens, sulphates, silicones or fillers.

Where does the tallow come from?

Grass-fed New Zealand cattle. We render it in small batches at our Christchurch facility โ€” never feedlot, never imported.

Does it have a smell?

Our Unscented range is genuinely scent-free. Our scented balms (Manuka Honey & Vanilla) use natural ingredients only โ€” soft, warm, never overpowering. No synthetic fragrance in anything we make.

Our unscented formulas use only grass-fed tallow plus minimal natural support ingredients โ€” no synthetic fragrance, sulphates, parabens or silicones.

How is Reviana Eye Cream different from the regular tallow balm?

Reviana is our premium under-eye and brightening cream โ€” same grass-fed tallow, but formulated with bakuchiol (a plant-based retinol alternative) and concentrated for the delicate eye area.

For a one-step face and body moisturiser, the regular balm is perfect. For dark circles, fine lines, or under-eye care, Reviana is the upgrade.

Can I use it on my face AND body?

Yes โ€” the Tallow Face & Body Balm is built for both. For your face, just use a little less.

Using it

How do I use the tallow balm?

Warm a pea-sized amount between your fingertips and press into clean, slightly damp skin. Once a day for maintenance, twice for dry patches or flare-ups. A little goes a long way โ€” much further than most creams.

How long does one jar last?

With daily use across face and any dry spots, our 120ml jar lasts most customers 2-3 months. Heavier daily users go through one a month.

How long does shipping take in New Zealand?

We dispatch within 1-3 business days. North Island delivery is usually 1-3 working days, South Island 1-2.

Do you ship to Australia?

Yes โ€” we ship to Australia from our New Zealand facility. Delivery is typically 5-8 business days. Australian shipping costs are shown at checkout.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently ship to New Zealand and Australia only. We're working on more destinations โ€” join our email list (footer below) to hear when we expand.

Are you in any retail stores?

We're online exclusive. That means you only get our products directly through this website โ€” no middlemen, no markups, every batch fresh from our Christchurch facility to your door.

What if my jar arrives damaged or melted in transit?
